It seems I'm privately learning all the stuff
mezzoblue Dave Shea is writing about... the hard way. Today (counting 3:30am as today) I had a run-in with a nasty Mac/IE 5.2 bug where it would apply some weird sort of indent to child elements:
What happend was this: in a position:relative DIV Mac/IE would indent all but the first child element by a certain amount. Not the first element, mind, only two, three etc.
Hunting for known Mac/IE bugs didn't help much. What I finally learned is this: if the parent element is position:relative AND has a left:value declaration, the browser would indent children 2-n. Getting rid of the left:70px; for the parent stopped that nicely... BUGGER
mezzoblue - CSS Problem-Solving is right on here. It's not what you know about browser bugs. It's how you do problem solving that's the real skill.
