Looking for an 'alternative' for ftp-syncing (aká ftp-upstreaming)
(Thursday 7th March 2002)

PapaScott is right, as so often ;)
How about the good old-fashioned 'mirror' script?
Thanks! Butthis is only a remot->local mirror.
and PapaScott found a very intersting article on using Perl for ftp;
Recursive Traversal of an FTP Site - The Perl Journal, Winter 1999
LFTP could be usefull, experimental for cygwin availeable
LFTP is sophisticated ftp/http client, file transfer program. Like BASH, it has job control and uses readline library for input. It has bookmarks, built-in mirror, can transfer several files in parallel. It was designed with reliability in mind.

FTPSync
Our latest product. FTPSync is an intuitive file management utility that provides the facility to synchronize files between a local machine and an FTP server. Particularly useful for updating web sites and downloading software upgrades and patches.
Registration USD15, Work unregistered, looks really usefull!

Siber Systems CVSviaFTP: Automagic Web Site Mirroring via FTP
CVSviaFTP is a life-saver for Web site designers and administrators who need to update their site remotely using FTP protocol only.
But this is also only local->remote. The CVS integration is cool thou. I guess UN*X only

AutoSyncFTP
is an automatic FTP client for remote web site synchronization. This program updates files and entire directory structures according to what is new and what is outdated.
Single user licenseUSD 29.5 ... Ok I'll rather have Radio8 thank you

Home Page Synchroniser hpsync tracks updates to the local copy of your homepages, and automatically synchronises Demon's home page server with your local copy. It could be used with any FTP server.
no finisched product yet :(

CopyTo"Synchronizer"(Windows95/98/Me/ユーティリティ)
Japanese anyone?

TFtpSync - Ftp directory synchronize component for Delphi 4 & 5
The included demo EXE appears to do almost what I want. But it only synchronizes local -> ftp. I'd love to have a ftp -> local to. The souce is included, so it should be possible...

Unison File Synchronizer
... is a file-synchronization tool for Unix and Windows. It allows two replicas of a collection of files and directories to be stored on different hosts (or different disks on the same host), modified separately, and then brought up to date by propagating the changes in each replica to the other.
from the ManualYou will need to install a copy of Unison on every machine that you want to synchronize. However, you only need the version with a graphical user interface (if you want a GUI at all) on the machine where you're actually going to display the interface (the client machine). Other machines that you synchronize with can get along just fine with the text version.
Drat!

Ernst also suggests Crystal Site Updater. This is commercial, and actally only does local->remote, but tahks for the pointer!
