I have a very early but serious design decision I'm constantly battling with, as I expect it to rear up and bite me numerous times in the future.
Traumtank has been - intentionaly - split into two parts. Display and Editorial. And not only from the design part but also in te tech used for each part. While I'm currently mostly working on the display engine,
p'tal being the main of that, I keep everything in PHP as is will run on the server. The idea is to build the editorial part, the actual content creating part, as a desktop app, in wxLua. So here I am planning to use not one but two very different languages to build a system where the roles are not so really clearly distributed. Where does content creation stop and content display start? Is a automatically built index part of creating or displaying content?
And then there is the fact that
p'tal can also very likely be used w/o any cennection to Traumtank, as the latter is more or less an application of the former. See where the concepts become really muddy? And one of my main goals with this whole thing is to keep the individual parts simple and clean...
