win2k crashed while installing SP3.. Now it comes up with a "winlogon.exe application error" upon reboot.
had the same problem when the PC shutdown during the download process for SP3 w/ W2K Professional (left unattended during download process via 56K modem) - The solution that worked for me was to start the reinstall process of Win2K (the O/S "Repair" option did not work for me either) and to reinstall the O/S - BUT - when the install recognizes a previous version - select to "Repair" at this point - virtually all my settings were reinstated and only MS Office 2000 products and a USB card reader needed to be reinstalled. As for MS Office 2000, all I had to do was insert the original install disk and the O/S reactivated the s/w w/o having to go through the s/w copy/install process.
very cool, seems to work
