I am currently reading the
manual of THE, which is a very interesting text-editor and Python IDE (but Mac only) following Jef Raskin's ideas put down in
'The Humane Interface'.
But the more I ready about those 'quasimodes' and 'LEAPing' etc. the more this sounds like a sort of VIM or EMACS to me... maybe a more modern and less backward-compatible mode, but all those ways of navigating a document can be had with one of the good old *IX editors of choice... Maybe the transparent overlay of the entered commands over the text is nice.
My summary for now: interesting ideas, maybe worth considering implementing some of in a TclKit or wxLua environment.
