Well hey-ho.
I finally own a Mac, and am playing with Tinderbox. Tinderbox being one of the main motivators for me buying / wanting a Mac in the first place.
So here I am now, typing away.... exploring the ways of Mac OS X mainly. Using white-on-black system settings and having my Powerbook read manuals to me. It's a very pleasing experience, after my struggle with help texts in far too small fonts for me to read comfortably...
So what do I tell you? I love it. Was a hard start I guess, but it's getting better by the day!
Some random Switcher notes below, typed while I work on other notes...
- Just now I switched back from white on black to tghe system default... Finding it extremly hard to read and keep my line. I'd need to use far larger fonts or lower resolution to use it this way. Sure looks nicer though...
- I love the way the spellchecker more reminds and makes me aware of errors than actually correcting me (my system is German, so the spelling hints are in German too for some reason. Although the spellchecker does mark errors in English spelling, not German). Thing is this way it's much more educational! Show me it's wrong, let me figure out how it's right.
- The battery on this TiBook lasts longer than the system believes it does! I'm deliberatly working on 0% battery for some time now, trying out how long it will last. Also I'd like to completely drain the battery as often as I can before recharging. That is supposed to 'train' the battery for longer life. (The opposite also applies to batteries constantly on the recharger... they won't last long)
- Another really cool thing is having the system read out what you have written for you! Is there a better way to see if you came across? Short of having another person read it that is... Although I will need to find a simpler way of doing that. CUrrently I select / copy / paste the desired text to a TextEdit window to have it read from there. For some reason Tinderbox's edit windows don't seem to support speech.
